The Greater Stake
Where do you go
When the grass you walked on
The home you lived in−
Your best friends
No longer existed?
In this material world
You have to choose
Between right and wrong
And find out for yourself
What side of the line
Do you want to belong.
What do you do
When your old neighborhood dissipates
And shortly after
Your memories of past
Start to escape?
You no longer have
Any friends
That you can turn to;
All you have instead
Is your Lord who has saved you.
Would you think the turn you took
Was a mistake,
Or would you realize
What was at stake?
What if you found
The closeness of others
From your distant past
Did not last
Rather, they all turned on you
And did so,
Fast.
When you find yourself
In that place
You might think at first
You have been betrayed
But alas you will soon realize
You have been saved
And are going the Lord’s way;
Hence it is your friends
Going in the opposite direction.
Their home
Is still a pathway to destruction
But you are making it to heaven.
If this ever again happens to you,
My child, save yourself
Time and pain
Now that you know the rules.
There is a way that you can have
Faith and still keep friends;
Just be truthful to yourself
And tell them what you are about;
They don’t have to agree
And their destiny is up to me.
Alas, enjoy the time here
Visiting my creation.
